A. Personal Statement
My extensive training, expertise, and passion for dental materials, biomaterials, endodontics, and conservative dentistry uniquely position me to lead impactful research projects in these fields. As the principal investigator for clinical trials in rotary endodontics, I addressed the critical need for African-based research, contributing to the evolving field of endodontics. My dual role in academia and research has encompassed multifaceted research work, teaching and supervising restorative dental courses, coordinating laboratory sessions, and leading community outreach programs, all while serving as the Faculty Basic Clinical Skills Coordinator, Exams Coordinator and Faculty Advisor. Between 2019 and 2021, I successfully managed a multidisciplinary NIH-funded research project which culminated in a patent and a peer-reviewed publication. Additionally, I led a national survey team that assessed the awareness and preparedness of Nigerian dental professionals and students regarding safe amalgam management ahead of the global amalgam phase-down initiative. Currently, as a PhD researcher at King’s College London, my focus is on developing a new biocompatible dental material with enhanced mechanical properties, antibacterial activity, and enhanced mineralization. I am dedicated to translating this innovative material into clinical application. I also aim to develop sustainable and economical solutions for the production of dental materials in Nigeria and other developing nations. I am eager to explore collaborative opportunities that will foster advancements in biomaterials and drive impactful change in dental practice.
